Jean Marie Mallas Repchak, 76, Dunmore, died peacefully Sunday in the Regional Hospital of Scranton as God called Jean home to heaven to join the rest of his angels as she was surrounded by her family. She and her husband Eugene had celebrated 44 years of marriage on April 12th.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Conrad Mallas. She attended Dunmore public schools and was a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Dunmore and its Altar and Rosary Society. She had worked in the local garment industry until the birth of her children after which she dedicated her life to raising her family.
Jean was very devoted to her church and family. She loved her garden and plants which brought her much joy. She was a devoted wife to her husband Eugene for 44 years and was a loving mother to her daughters Lisa and Jennifer, and nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren Alayna, Marissa, and Matthew.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jennifer Popis and her husband Mark, Scranton, and Lisa Doolittle and her husband Arthur, Montrose, two sisters, Dolores Pello and her husband Steve, Dupont, and Dorothy Casagrande, Jessup, a brother, John Mallas, Dunmore, three grandchildren, Alayna and Matthew Doolittle of Montrose and Marissa Popis, Scranton, and a brother in law Albert Repchak, Dunmore, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by an infant son Eugene Charles Repchak, and a brother, Charles Mallas, Jr.
Divine Liturgy will be held Wednesday at 11am in St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Drinker Street in Dunmore. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery in Dunmore.
