Harold Rosenberg, Scranton and Boyton Beach, FL, passed away Saturday with his family by his side.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Daniel and Sarah Rosenberg, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Muriel Horwitz Rosenberg and a brother, Sheldon Rosenberg. He is survived by his daughters, Laura Petrella, Richmond, VA, Joan Michini, Philadelphia, Ellen Rosenberg, Vienna, VA, and Debby Rosenberg, Bel Air, MD, nine grandchildren and a brother, Paul Rosenberg, Scranton.
A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and he served in WWII as a sail maker aboard the U.S.S. Egeria.
After graduating from Penn State in 1950 as an industrial engineer he was inspired by his father, a tailor to begin a career in garment manufacturing.
He retooled factories and implemented systems engineering and piece goods processes. After moving back to Scranton he established Muriel Manufacturing Co. in Dunmore, named after his wife, where he made children’s’ dresses and women’s blouses and Plains T Shirt in Plains, PA where he provided T-Shirts for Union Shops nationwide. He retired to Florida in 2002.
A private funeral was held on Monday. Shiva will be observed today, Wednesday and Thursday from 7pm-9pm at the home of his brother Paul at 7 Viewmont Estates in Scranton.
