Enid Frimith Friedman, 90, a resident of Sarasota, FL, passed away on Sunday night.
The daughter of the late Edward and Sarah Gross Klein, she was born in Scranton on June 29, 1924. A resident of Clarks Green, PA for over 25 years, she had attended Scranton Central High School, the University of Michigan and the Tufts School of Occupational Therapy in Boston.
Enid was active in social and philanthropic organizations including Brandeis Study Group, Hadassah and volunteered for many years as a reader to first grade children in Sarasota. She was an avid walker and swimmer and enjoyed living for many years on Long Boat Key. Most of all, Enid loved being with her three sons and seven grandchildren, to whom her matzoh ball soup was legendary.
She is survived by sons Richard Friedman and Suzanne Perry of Loudonville, NY and their sons Andrew, Henry and Peter; J. Lawrence Friedman and Mary Kalmes of Ann Arbor, MI and their children Lauren and Alex; Bill and Wendy Friedman of Lexington, MA and their sons Zack and Jacob, and by several nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Jerome Klein and her beloved friend Theodore Bell.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with services by Rabbi Daniel Swartz. Interment to follow in Ohav Zedek Cemetery, Hanover Township.
There will be no local shiva.
