Catherine E. Burke

Catherine E. Burke, 61, of Dunmore, passed away Thursday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore. Surviving is her husband, John “Jack” Burke. The couple had been married for 39 years.
Born in Fairfax, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Julian and Catherine Patterson Long. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School and the University of Scranton where she received a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting. She was a business manager for Topp Sider Homes.
Cathy was a 1980 graduate from Dunmore High School and was elected Miss Buck for the 1979-1980 school year.
She enjoyed camping, boating on lake Wallenpaupack with friends and family, and an afternoon NASCAR race viewing party. Cathy was always up for family gatherings and always willing to lend a hand to anyone. She will sadly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Also surviving are her brother, JT Long, Dunmore; sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Washko and husband, Dave; and Rose Lasher and husband, Tony, all of Dunmore; brothers-in-law, Joseph Burke and wife Mari, Scranton; Jerry Burke and wife, Peggy, Covington Twp.; and James Burke and wife, Donna, Dunmore; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 22, 2024 at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 6 p.m.
Interment is private at the convenience of the family.
