Vincentina “Jane” R. Sciartilli, 87, of Dunmore, passed away Friday afternoon in the Regional Hospital of Scranton. Her husband, the late Angelo W. passed away in January 2014. The couple had been married for 65 years.

Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late James and Gaetana Benfante and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. She was a lifelong member of SS Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore and prior to retirement she worked in the local garment industry as a seamstress.

Jane and Angelo met when they were both working at the former M.K. Dress Company in Dunmore. They married on April 17, 1948 and settled into their home on Electric Street. She was a great cook, a lover of old classic movies and a member of the Emanon Club, Dunmore. She loved to travel to Atlantic City and always came back with more than she went with.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Regional Hospital Emergency Room and the ICU especially Dr. Nicholas Dodge and Dr. Terrance Lenahan for the care and kindness they provided to both Jane and her family. The family is also grateful to the staff at the Green Ridge Health Care Center where Jane had resided since 2015 and would especially like to thank her roommate, Betty, for the friendship and care they gave to Jane this past year.

Surviving is a son; James and wife Elaine, Scranton. A grandson; Jason and wife Tammy, Dunmore. Great-grandchildren; Colin James and Connor Joseph. A sister-in-law; Mary Ann Benfante, Dunmore and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother; Leonard Benfante.

The funeral will be Tuesday morning from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St. Dunmore with Mass at 11:00am in St. Anthony’s Church, Smith St., Dunmore.

Interment, Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.

Friends may call Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 9-10:30am

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Joseph’s Center, 2010 Adams Ave. Scranton, Pa 18509
