Tommy Voytek, 39, of Dunmore died Thursday evening at home after a 3 year battle with ALS.


Born in Scranton, he was the son of Thomas F., Sr. and Madelyn Volz Voytek, Dunmore and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Dunmore.  He was a 1994 graduate of Dunmore High School and a 1999 graduate of the University of Scranton where he received his bachelor’s degree in Business Management.


Tommy worked at Tom’s Garage and Auto Sales, a family business, alongside his father since the age of 15. He was an avid Nascar fan and loved to ride his motorcycle. He had a deep appreciation for the United States Navy and attended numerous reunions with his father and brother-in-law aboard the USS Enterprise. He was a member of the Dunmore VFW, the NEPA Business Alliance Group and a former member of the BNI Marketing Association. He had a selfless and giving personality and truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends but he especially enjoyed spending time with his niece Sara, whom he cherished. He will sadly be missed by all who knew and loved him.


Also surviving is a sister, Lisa Voytek Naro and husband Tony and a niece, Sara, all of Dunmore; aunts and uncles Frank Voytek and wife Donna, Mt. Joy, PA; Steve Voytek and wife Peggy, Betty Ann Costanzo and husband
Louis, all of Dunmore; Bobby Voytek and wife Debbie, Scranton; Mary Brazil and husband Jerry, Dunmore; James Volz and wife Joan, Scranton; and Teddy Volz and wife Katie, Philadelphia; numerous cousins and friends.


He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Carolyn, and his grandparents, Francis and
Elizabeth Voytek, and Ted and Helen Volz.


The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore.


Those attending the Mass are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the funeral.


Friends may call Monday evening at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m.


In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Tommy to the ALS Association Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 6051, Albert Lee, MN. 56007.

Tom,Matty,and Lisa,it was with a heavy heart that I learned of the passing of our beloved Tommy.You all have been among my most cherished friends all my life,words cannot express my sorrow.

Tom,Bob & family: It has been a true pleasure to be in the company of a great kid as Tommy and that is a testament of his family upbringing. lot's of good times & memory's. Our thoughts & prayers are with your family at this difficult time.

I have fond memories of our days together at the University of Scranton. For the family please accept my condolences Tommy was a great man and will be dearly missed.

I just found out about Tommy's passing and I am heartbroken although I only knew him as a young boy - I have heard so many say such wonderful things about him I pray that G-D will give you the strength to through this horrible time and may Tommy's memory be a blessing
