In Remembrance of Tillie Parish

Tillie Parish, 94, a lifelong resident of Scranton and Dunmore, died Saturday in the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania, Scranton.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Barney and Yetta Shatz Parish. A graduate of Dunmore High School, she was instrumental in the establishment of her family's grocery store in Hamlin, following the closing of their store in Dunmore. She continued as manager until her father's retirement. Before the establishment of the store, she was employed in Philadelphia by the federal government. She was a member of Temple Israel, Dunmore, Beth Shalom Congregation Sisterhood, Scranton, the Jewish Home and the Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary.
Family was the priority in Tillie's life. She was her parents' primary caregiver during their later years. Her nieces will forever remember and cherish her strength, kindness, laughter and supreme generosity of spirit. She will be greatly missed.
The family is grateful for the enduring friendship of Ruth Gelb and Marlene Lieber.
She is survived by her nieces, Sharon Norris, Sonnie Kronen, Sela Swinford and Hari Jacobsen; and several cousins.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Rose Kronen and Pauline Katz; and a brother, Louis Parish.A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Dalton Jewish Cemetery. There is no shiva.
