Thomas Earl “Odie” Davis, 79, a former resident of Dunmore and Scranton Manor on Jefferson Avenue, died Tuesday morning at the Lackawanna Health and Rehab Center. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, the former Jean Bitcola.
Born in Taylor, Mr. Davis was the son of the late William A. and Elizabeth Evans Davis, and was a graduate of Taylor High School and served as a member of the Army Reserves. He had been employed by Consolidated Molding Products in Minooka, and retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania where he had worked at the Scranton State Office Building. He was a great athlete who was a fan of the Miami Dolphins, and also enjoyed socializing with family and friends.
Also surviving is his brother, Ronald Davis of Old Forge, his dear friend, Peter Dunford of Scranton, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his siblings William, Dorothy, Ruth, Arlene, Evelyn, Shirley, Marion, June, Helen, Robert, and his twin, Rev. Merle.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 6 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
The family requests that all flowers please be omitted, and that memorial contributions be made to the Lackawanna Heath and Rehab Center Patient Activities Fund, 108 Terrace Dr., Olyphant, PA 18447.
