Theodore S. “Ted” Riggi, 86, of Scranton, died Tuesday morning in the Intensive Care Unit of Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton.  He had been married to his loving wife Valerie (Williams) Riggi for 45 years.

Born in Weehawken, NJ, on December 9, 1930 to the late Cataldo E.  and Ida (Crispino) Riggi, he lived in Dunmore for many years before moving to Scranton.

Ted was active in many organizations including the Scranton Federation of Teachers, Scranton Administrators Group, Keystone Chapter UNICO National, Scranton Music Association, Friends of the Forgotten, Lions, and the Columbus Day Association of Lackawanna County.  Ted was employed by the Scranton School District and later as an administrator for over 30 years. He was an avid musician beginning by playing with his father's dance band in the Poconos at age 12. He was in the Army during the Korean Conflict and played with the Army band and Fort Dix Chorus and appeared with that group on television. He has continued his love of music after retirement from the Scranton School District by composing more than 30 pieces of music, including Ballads, Love Songs, and Marches, etc.  Ted was proprietor of Chi Spa (Compatible Healthcare Institute and Spa, Inc.) for 15 years until his retirement from there in 2016.

Ted is also survived by two daughters, Carla Marie Riggi, San Francisco, California, and Gia Nina Riggi, Scranton and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 East Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church on the corner of Taylor Avenue and East Gibson Street in Scranton.  Interment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Friends may call Friday from 3 to 8p.m. at the funeral home.
