Susan Osborn Fickus, 70, of Dunmore, passed away Friday morning at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Scranton on July 9, 1946, daughter of the late Christian and Marie Osborn Fickus, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School, class of 1964. Susan worked in the accounting department of Gould Battery Inc. for 25 years. During the nine years before her retirement, she worked in the accounting department of L.R. Costanzo Construction Co.

For most of her life, Susan was a member of Myrtle Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and served on the board of trustees. Before her passing, Susan attended Asbury United Methodist Church for several years.

She enjoyed several hobbies, including making jewelry, ceramics, crocheting, baking and working in her vegetable garden.

Susan had many friends that she loved to be around, including several who were friends since kindergarten.

Her family would like to thank all the wonderful people at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the special care Susan received during her final days. Also, a special thank you to Marsha and Chuck Drake for all their caring assistance during Susan's last weeks.

Surviving are her loving sister, Linda Fickus, Dunmore; and her longtime fiancé, Chet Drake, Scranton.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Asbury United Methodist Church, Monsey Avenue and Delaware Street, Scranton, with the Rev. Arthur Davis and the Rev. Betty Reilly, officiating. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Friends may call Tuesday from 10 until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorial contributions may be made to It Takes a Village Foundation, 21 Firefly Drive, Myerstown, PA 17067.
