Ruth F. Castellano, Dunmore, died Thursday at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton. She and her husband, Peter A. Castellano, celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on Aug. 27.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Edward and Celia Urbanick Wilczynski, Ruth was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and cosmetology school in Scranton and for many years owned and operated Ruth's Beauty Salon in downtown Scranton. She was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Scranton Chapter of UNICO National and had been a member of the Scranton Prep Parents Club.Ruth was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed volunteering at the cappuccino stand at St. Rocco's Church picnic, Dunmore, and at La Festa Italiana in Scranton. She loved spending summers at Lake Henry with her family at the cottage her father built.

Her family would like to thank the staff of Allied Services Skilled Nursing, the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center and the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for all the wonderful and dedicated care given to Ruth.

She is also survived by a son, attorney Frank P. Castellano and his wife, Cammie; a granddaughter, Grace Ann Castellano; a sister, Evelyn Connor, New Providence, N.J.; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patrician Ann.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, Luke Avenue and Kurtz Street in the Bunker Hill section of Dunmore. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow. Anyone attending the funeral is asked to go directly to the church.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.
