Ruth D. Lewis, of Clarks Summit, died Thursday afternoon in the V.N.A. Hospice of Geisinger-Community Medical Center.  Her husband, Jack Lewis, died in 2007.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Frank and Maria DePietro, she was a graduate of West Scranton high School and was a member of the Clarks Green Assembly of God.  She had worked as a C.N.A. in the Mid Valley Long Term Care Center and also as an interior designer.

Surviving is her son, Sean Phillips and wife Lori of Nicholson; and her daughter, Alexis Lounsbery and husband John of Waverly; and grandchildren Rod Harper, Lowell and Lynn Phillips, Masen Baylor and J.C. Lounsbery, and Philip Hunt. 

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Harper; two sisters Louise Mazzanti and Annette Dale; and brothers Frank and Carmen DePietro.

Per Ruth’s request, funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family; however, there will be a public memorial service in her honor on a date to be announced.

Dear Sean and Lexie, I was saddened to hear of your loss. Please know how very sorry I am. We loved your Mother very much and really enjoyed her company. Both Steve and Mike are affected by your loss.

My beloved friend, I will miss you. Your kindness, thoughtfulness and sense of humor made you special to so many people. Knowing your strong faith and how you lived your life, you are so at peace and we you left behind will content ourselves remembering the wonderful times we shared, filled with laughter and friendship. My deepest sympathy on the passing of your mom. I worked with her at Mid valley long term. She was always full of fun. God bless her and your family.
