Philomena L. "Minnie" Occhipinti, 91, of Scranton, died Friday afternoon at home surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Carmen J. Occhipinti, who died Oct. 26, 1994.

Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Eugene and Laura Caterino Riccardo, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, who was dedicated to and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.

Surviving are a daughter, Carmel A. Gretzula and husband, Tom, Dunmore; a son, Joseph, Blakeslee; grandchildren, Tina Occhipinti, Bridget Ristagno-Cavets and husband, David; David Ristagno and wife, Cathy; Amy Yeager and husband, Jason; Joseph Occhipinti and Laura Jones and husband, David; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Laura Schmidt and husband, Ralph, Scranton; Grace Coggi, Syracuse, N.Y.; Rose Mary Pupalitis and husband, John, Dunmore; and Ida Sciabarasi and husband, Vince, Caldwell, N.J.; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Salvatore Occhipinti; sisters, Jennie Ferrese, Angela Spinuzza, Lucy Riccardo and Olga Sacco; and a brother, Anthony Riccardo.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, Kurtz Street, Dunmore. Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that contributions be made to the Traditional Home Health and Hospice Memorial Fund, 113 W. Drinker St., Dunmore, PA 18512.
