Nancy Anne Jackman, Clarks Summit, died Sunday evening in Suburban Hospital, Bethesda, Md.
Born Sept. 22, 1943, in Peckville, daughter of Theresa Watso Shuta and the late Jacob Shuta, she was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School, Olyphant, and went on to attend Marywood College. Nancy enjoyed a rewarding career in communications and public relations as director of Allied Services Auxiliary, later retiring from CCIS in Scranton. Retirement brought many health issues, but also lots of fun and planning for much needed relaxation. She was an avid supporter of various theater, arts and culture in and around the Scranton area. Nancy passed away peacefully with loving family at her side, after many challenging health issues, which she always handled gracefully without anger or resentment.
She is survived by the most cherished daughter, Jody Jackman, Chevy Chase, Md.; dearest siblings, sister, Lyn McNevin and husband, Tony, Gardners; Vincent Shuta and wife, Anne Marie, Olyphant; and James Shuta and wife, Barbara, Dickson City; a multitude of loving nieces, nephews and cousins; a sister-in-law, Rhoda Isaacs, her children and their spouses; and all who knew her who rejoiced in her spirit, vitality, beauty and elegance.
Nancy will be missed greatly but never forgotten in the hearts of all who knew her. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with services by Rabbi Daniel Swartz. Interment will follow in Temple Hesed Cemetery, Dunmore. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until the time of service.
Shiva will be observed at Nancy's home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to any teaching heart hospital of the donor's choice.
