Mildred M. Murphy, 100, Dunmore, died Thursday morning in Scranton Regional Hospital. She was the wife of the late William J. Murphy who died in 1993.

Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Hanis Ferguson. Mildred was a lifelong member of the former All Saints Church and currently Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore. She had served as president of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers at the former All Saints Church in Dunmore. Mildred also volunteered her time at Mercy Hospital as a member of the Auxiliary. She greatly enjoyed crafts, quilting, and baking which she shared with family and friends. Her family would like to give a special thanks to Marge Shay for the many years as a great friend and caregiver.

Surviving are a daughter Beverly Lydon and her husband Paul, Dunmore, a son William Murphy Esq. and his wife Suzanne, Narberth, PA, three grandchildren, Timothy Lydon and his wife Theresa, Shavertown, Collin Kelly Lydon and his wife Tamara, Harrisburg, and Shauna Munshower and her husband John, of Wayne, PA, ten great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul Lydon, a sister Madelyn Sandone, and a brother Edward Ferguson.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Mary of Mount Camel Church, Chestnut Street in Dunmore. Interment will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Dunmore.

Friends may call in the funeral home Tuesday morning from 9am to 10:30am.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Annual Fund at Scranton Preparatory School c/o Karen Minora Director of Development 1000 Wyoming Avenue Scranton, PA 18509.

Beverly, Paul Billy Timmy & Theresa and all the Family Words cannot express the sorry I feel in my heart for all of you today. Your Mom was a great person and had a good long life. but the pain of losing of Mother is a real tough one, I am still trying to get over my Mom and it has been almost 10 months. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. May she RIP Love Annette

We were so sorry to hear about Mildred's passing.
She was a very kind woman and always a pleasure to talk to. She and mom ate dinner together every night and mom always enjoyed her company.
So sorry for your loss, she will be missed very much.
