Mary P. "Patsy" Marichak, 77, Dunmore, died Saturday at Mountain View Care Center. She was the wife of Joseph Marichak, who died in 1990.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Helen Finnerty Toomey. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School and, before retirement, was employed in the food service department of the Dunmore School District and also at Nicholas Pizza Shop, Scranton. 

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore, and had been a member of the former Christ the King Church, Dunmore, its Altar and Rosary Society and was very active in numerous church activities, including being the chairwoman of its annual church picnic. She was an avid bowler and devoted Boston Red Sox fan. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be dearly missed.

Her family would like to thank the entire staff of Traditional Home Health and Hospice, especially Nancy St. George, for all the dedicated care given to Patsy.

Surviving are a daughter, Maribeth Ehnot and husband, John, Dunmore; a son, Joseph Marichak and wife, Debra, Dunmore; grandchildren, Jordyn and Jaclyn Marichak; two sisters, Jeanie Maciejewski, Union, Ky.; and Ann Tomachick, Dunmore; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Michele; and a brother, Joseph Toomey.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment in St. Michael's Cemetery, Dunmore.

Family and friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Maribeth, I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was such a nice woman. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Oh I am so sad to read this. Mrs Marichak was a great lady who even called me for a chat on one of her Vegas trips a few years back. Sincere sympathy to the whole family, esp Joe, Deb, and girls.
