Maria C. Lin

Dickson City, PA December 20, 1971 ~ July 17, 2013 Date of Service: To be held at a later date

Maria C. Lin, 41, Dickson City, died Wednesday afternoon in Hospice Community Care in Dunmore.

Maria was an adventurer. She lived life to the fullest. After a yearlong battle, Maria passed away from breast cancer.

She was the daughter of Constantine Lin and Teresa Lee. Along with her brother, Tommy Lin, they emigrated to the United States in 1982. Maria excelled at sports and music as a child, taking top honors in everything she participated in. She focused on arts in high school and received a full scholarship to Marywood College, where she graduated top of her class. She would go on to start her own art studio, Flying Chicken Studios, where along with her business partner and best friend of 22 years, Tracy Summerlin, excelled in the field of graphic design.

For a person her size you would never guess how much she enjoyed food. She loved the outdoors and often went biking and hiking all over NEPA and surrounding states. Her passion for travel had taken her to England, Italy, the Netherlands, Canada, Taiwan, Hawaii and many more destinations in the US and abroad.

She is survived by her father, Constantine Lin; mother, Teresa Lee; and brother, Tommy Lin, all of Dunmore; her best friend, business partner and traveling buddy, Tracy Summerlin of Dickson City; and her fiancé, Ben Vernay of Lyon, France, whom she adored to no end, globe-trotting back and forth in what she called the most fulfilling relationship two people could share; and countless friends and family all around the world.

A celebration of Maria's life will be held at a later date.

Maria was a very special person. I first met Maria and Stacy when they were starting Flying Chicken and they joined the chamber. Maria was so creative and helped me so much with my business. She was so positive and full of ideas. Maria will be very much missed. I am sorry for the family's loss and her fiance and for Tracy. It really says something about someone when they have such a wonderful friend by their side.
