Leah N. Hershfield, 100, of Columbus, Ohio, died Wednesday evening in Wexner Heritage House, Columbus, Ohio. She was the widow of the late Dr. David Hershfield.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Attorney Harry and Ida Spitz Needle. She attended Syracuse University and received a bachelor’s degree in library Science from Marywood College.

Surviving are sons Dr. Robert Hershfield and wife Marcia; and Dr. Michael S. Hershfield and wife Susan; grandchildren Jeremy Hershfield and wife Rachel Kurlantzick; Jessica Hershfield Malamuth and husband Eldad; and Jon Rosenthal and wife Marla; great-grandchildren Ezra Max Malamuth, Amitai David Malamuth and Mavis Rae Rosenthal; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers Joe, Ralph and Matthew Needle; and sisters Minnie Nogi and Hilda Goldenziel.

A graveside service will be held Friday at 1:00pm in the Dickson City Jewish Cemetery by Rabbi Joseph Mendelsohn.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Temple Israel, 913 E. Gibson St. Scranton, PA 18510; Columbus Torah Academy, 181 Noe Bixby Rd., Columbus, OH 43213; or Wexner Heritage Village, 1151 College Ave., Columbus, OH 43209.

There will be no local Shiva.
