In Remembrance of Joseph P. Panaro

Joseph P. Panaro, 89, of Dunmore died Monday morning in the
Gino J. Merli Veterans Center in Scranton.
Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Lorenzo and
Maria Lucia Romaniello Panaro and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. He
served in the United States Army during World War II and prior to retirement he
worked as a manager in the former Giant Supermarket in Dunmore.
During his service with the US Army he received many honors
including Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle
Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory
Medal. He also kept buildings and
equipment in good repair and working order. Joe was a self-taught carpenter,
electrician and plumber who could build and fix anything. He will be sadly
missed by his family.
Surviving is a sister and primary caregiver; Carmella Panaro, Dunmore; a brother, Gerard
A. Panaro, Throop; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters; Bernetta Breig and
Bertha Panaro and brothers; Vito, Donato and Gaetano.
The funeral will be Saturday from the
Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with
Mass at 11:00am in St. Anthony’s Church, Smith St., Dunmore.
Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
