Mr. Mecca was the epitome of a true gentleman & respected educator. I will always remember him as a devoted, dedicated teacher. He cared deeply about all his students and instilled in all of us fortunate to have had his guidance, that we mattered and could achieve whatever we set our hearts on to achieve. EVERY student, every child deserves a teacher as fine and instrumental as Mr. Joseph Mecca. I will always remember him with gratitude and affection. He will be truly be missed.

Rosemarie,

As Joe's roommate at East Stroudsburg I was always aware of how much his family meant to him. It is probably a big part of the reason I spent most weekends alone in our room. I have read every entry in the guest book and am very pleased to know that many other people got to know this great guy. My wife and I are very distressed to know that the Best Man at our wedding has passed. Although my parents are also gone I often remember how impressed they were when Joe would stop by the house on his way to Martz Hall for a basketball game. Please accept my sincere condolences and my thanks for allowing me to spend time with a great person.

My sympathies to Rosemarie.
Scappy was my mentor during my student teaching at Dunmore High School, who then became my colleague and friend throughout my teaching career. He was always professional and gracious and of course very learned. I will miss him and the many stories only he can tell.
