In Loving Memory of John "Smokey" Dutko

John

John "Smokey" Dutko

Dunmore, PA June 9, 1953 ~ September 6, 2016 Date of Service: September 10, 2016

John "Smokey" Dutko, 63, of Dunmore, died Tuesday night at home. He and his wife, Michele, shared 40 years of love together.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Joseph and Theresa Labdafsky Dutko, he was a graduate of Dunmore High School, class of 1973. For over 28 years, he was the proud owner and operator of Smokey's Landscaping and Hauling and was the founder of John Dutko's "College of Knowledge." He also loved antiques, scrapping, collecting vintage toys and the Dutko Sunday drives.

A man who did impossible feats, Smokey wouldn't take "no" for an answer. If someone told him something could not be done, he would rise to the challenge and gladly go to great lengths to achieve the task at hand. He was a man who loved his work and held great pride in all he did. He always gave selflessly to others. As much as Smokey loved his work and family, he also loved to have fun and be young at heart.

In addition to his beloved wife, Michele, he is survived by a daughter, Ava Reynolds and husband, Ray, of Dunmore; a son, John Dutko, of Dunmore; grandchildren, Cayden and Ellie Reynolds; his sister, Joy Ann Scaranato and husband, Paul, of Dunmore; his brothers, Joseph Dutko, of Dunmore; and Michael Dutko and wife, Becky, of Olyphant; aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; his mother-in-law, Gertrude Novorosky, of Dunmore; as well as a host of friends.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore. Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
