John Paul Moore, 95, of Scranton, died Wednesday morning in the VNA Hospice at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton. He is survived by his wife, the former Betty Weaver. The couple celebrated 73 years of marriage on January 9th.

Born in Darlington, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late John Henry and Mary Finley Moore and was a World War II Army Veteran. He trained as an airplane mechanic during his service and was self-employed for many years as a sewing machine mechanic prior to retirement.

He enjoyed ice fishing, painting and was an animal lover. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving are sons; John E. and wife Susan, Smyrna, GA and Bruce T. and wife Kathleen, Scranton. Grandchildren; Cheryl Remmert, Christopher P. Moore and wife Suzanne, Laura L. Moore, Shannon A. Kunard and husband Robert and Mary Beth Moore Robinson. Great-grandchildren; Emily and Natalie Robinson, Christina and Sean Moore, Lamar Cavins and Annaleigh Kunard. Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother; Gerald T. and sisters; Margaret Buch and Naomi Halligan

The funeral will be Saturday from Immaculate Conception Church, Taylor Ave., Scranton with Mass at 9:30am.

There are no public calling hours.

Entombment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

He was a kind, gentle uncle. He had a great laugh and laughed often. I have wonderful memories of his many visits to Ephrata. I'm so glad I got to spend a little time with him last year. Sincere sympathy to the family. love, Stacy
