Joan Louise McCarthy Perry, 83, Dunmore, died Tuesday morning at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore.  She and her husband, Thomas J. Perry, had celebrated 65 years of marriage on August 19th.

 

Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Catherine Slack McCarthy, she attended Dunmore High School, and prior to retirement had been employed by Mother’s Laundry.  She was a member of Dunmore United Methodist Church.  Joan was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed.

 

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for all of the kindness and compassion shown to Joan during her times of need. 

 

In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by her sons, Thomas Perry II and wife Mary of Elmhurst, who were also her caregivers; David Perry and wife Michelle of Archbald; Mark Perry and wife Donna of Westminster, MD; and John Perry and wife Belinda of Peckville; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her sister and caregiver, Carol Oprisko of Dunmore; sister-in-law Jenny Coar of Dunmore; as well as nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her sister, Lois DiCindio; brother, William Coar; and cousin, Anna Slack.

 

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service Friday at 11 a.m. in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst Township, by Rev. Arthur Davis.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 340 Montage Mountain Rd., Moosic, PA 18507.

so sorry to hear about Aunt Joan she was a great lady who will be missed by many unable to attend funeral being in North Carolina but my thoughts and prayers are with her and her loving family
