Janet A. Barnowski, 55, of Dunmore, died early Monday in the Regional Hospital of Scranton after battling an illness.


Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Joseph T. and Catherine Hoizan Barnowski, she was a 1976 graduate of Dunmore High School and went on to attend Lackawanna Junior College and the University of Scranton, and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore.  Prior to her illness, she had been employed for thirty-four years by BMC Office Furniture in Scranton as its controller.  She was an avid gardener and a huge New York Yankees fan.  Janet was a beloved and devoted daughter, sister, godmother, friend and co-worker who will be dearly missed.


Surviving is her sister, Kathy Barnowski, Scranton; godsons Louis Scombordi III and Jake Bradley; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, her extended family and a host of friends.

 

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with mass at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.  Interment will be held at a later date.


Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-8 p.m.

I am saddened to hear of Janet's passing. My heart goes out to the Janet's family and very close friends. I can only hope that the good memories you have help get you through this difficult time. You will be in my prayers. God Bless.
