In Loving Memory of Jane M. Buselli

Jane M. Buselli

Jane M. Buselli

Dunmore, PA January 18, 1936 ~ April 7, 2016 Date of Service: April 12, 2016

Jane Marie Summa Buselli, 80, a resident of Dunmore, died Thursday at Regional Hospital of Scranton following a long, courageous battle with cancer.  She was the wife of the late Sandy A. Buselli II who died in 1984.

Born in Dunmore, Jane was the last surviving child of late Italian immigrant parents Salvatore and Rose Pietrafase Summa. She was a 1953 graduate of Dunmore High School.  She was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.  She was a lifelong Dunmore resident, with the exception of her first few years of marriage when she lived in Arizona and a few years in New Jersey with her husband stationed in the US Air Force.  She worked some years before having children, but left the workforce to raise her family.  She entered back into the workforce in her later 40’s, upon her husband’s death, working at Catholic Golden Age Insurance Company and for Attorney Sposito as a bookkeeper. She was proud of her competency and efficiency in all of her jobs.

Jane M. was a strong, independent woman who lost her husband at a young age and continued to raise her family and keep things together very well on her own.  She was a kind and generous soul to everyone she knew and loved.  She put her family and friends before herself.  She was an exceptional cook, who had a home-cooked meal on the table for her family every day and often invited extended family and friends to her table for her specialty roasts and Italian cooking.  She also enjoyed visiting local small restaurants in the local community with her family and friends for breakfast and lunch almost daily for many years right up until her health failed.

Jane was a devout Catholic who attended church regularly and every day in her better years.  She often volunteered to do mailings and donated her time and funds to other charity events at the church.  She and her sisters were kind and compassionate souls who could often be seen at local funeral homes paying respects to their family and friends in the local community.

She enjoyed travelling in healthier times.  She was a well-seasoned traveler, visiting places as far west as Hawaii, Alaska, California, Seattle, etc. and as far east as Italy, Ireland, Iceland, England, and Canada.  She frequented California, Las Vegas, and New Orleans and was on several cruises and bus trips.  She also visited too many other states and cities to mention.

Jane was an avid book reader, even on her iPad.  She was tech savvy on her computer, iPhone, and iPad.  She also enjoyed going to the movies, local theater, and Broadway shows.  She even saw shows on London’s West End.

Jane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend.  She enjoyed many years with all of them at her summer home in Beach Lake, PA and, almost daily, outings and picnics at various local parks and recreation areas.

Surviving are a son, Frederick and wife, Rose, of Yardley; two daughters Helene Altier, and husband Arthur, Scranton; and Mary Jane Cerminaro, and husband Joseph, Scranton; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Sandy A. Buselli III in 2009 and all of her siblings, sisters, Carmella Colangelo, Margaret Rizzo, Grace Scaccia, Ann Marie Nocilla DeCicco, and brother, William Summa.

The family wishes to thank all of her private care aides, especially Susie, Maria, Yocusta, and Verna;  the entire staff at Golden Living Care Facility, Scranton, who went above and beyond to make Jane’s stay there comfortable; Regional Hospital, especially 8th floor; Dr. Chameoun, Dr. Gilhooley, Dr. Dodge, Dr. Allocci, and each of their staff and associates.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St. Dunmore with Mass at 11:00am in St. Mary’s Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore.

Interment, Cathedral Cemetery
