Jane B. Riedel McDonald, Dunmore, died Sunday morning in Green Ridge Gardens Health Care Center, Scranton. Her husband, the late Joseph P., died May 5, 1986. The couple had been married for 37 years.

Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Gus B. and Mary Ferguson Riedel, she was a member of the first graduating class of St. Mary of Mount Carmel School in 1940, a graduate of Dunmore High School in June 1944, and received her nursing diploma from Moses Taylor Hospital in 1947.

For many years, she worked part-time at Moses Taylor Hospital, Holy Family Residence and Laurel Hill Nursing Home. She also worked at Scranton Primary Health Care and Wellness Center, retiring at 75 years of age. She has served the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association .

She became a role model for her family, friends, church and community by serving as co-chairperson with her late husband on the Diocesan Synod II Commission. She also volunteered at the Diocesan Renewal Center in Elmhurst. She was a lector, Eucharistic minister, member of the Liturgy committee and served on the RCIA team. She was chairwoman for the RENEW process and served as president of the Women's Guild at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church.

Sending love and prayers to all of you. Aunt Jane was an amazing person and will be missed. Her memory will live on in her many family members, and her goodness will always be remembered. So sorry we won't be able to make the services as we are down in Florida, but we will be thinking of you this week. Lots of love, The Prindles.
