James “Jim” W. Lance, 51, Scranton, died Friday evening in the Moses Taylor Hospital Intensive Care Unit. He and his wife, the late Anita S. Farris Lance, whom died May 17th 2012, had been married for 26 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Fred Lance, Jr. and Mary Boston Lance. Jim was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish in Scranton. He worked as a maintenance engineer for an electrical engineering company. Jim was also a member of the Polish Club, Post25, and the Taurus Club, all in North Scranton. His passions and hobbies included being an avid outdoorsman and hunter and he also enjoyed classic cars.

Surviving are a daughter, Kayla Lance, of Scranton and who is currently a nursing student at West Chester University, a brother, Fred Lance III and his wife Isabelle, Scranton, two sister’s Marie LaRose, Old Forge, and Debbie O’Neill and her husband Pat, Scranton, his mother and father in law, Michael and Kathryn Farris Sr., Dunmore, two brother in laws, Michael Farris and his wife Carmel, Dunmore and Thomas Farris and his wife Angela, Dickson City, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church in Scranton. Interment will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5pm-8pm.
