Herman Gilman, 83, of Factoryville, died Saturday evening in Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. He is survived by his wife, the former Catherine Venskytis. The couple had been married for 44 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Louis and Ida Kaufman Gilman and was a 1952 graduate of the former Central High School, Scranton and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Scranton in 1960. He was an army veteran and prior to retirement worked in the local garment industry.

He enjoyed rides to the Lackawanna State Park, doing crossword puzzles and watching the History and Discovery channels on television. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving is a daughter; Dr. Denise Gilman, Coraopolis, Pa and a son; Louis, Scranton.

Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother; Irving Gilman

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with a service at 11:00am

Friends may call from 10:00am until the time of service.

Interment, Shoemaker Cemetery, Dalton
