Helen Sue Flatow Zeidman, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Lewis.

 

She was born and raised in New York City. She attended New York University where she graduated with a degree in marketing, and obtained her Master’s degree in Psychology from Queens College. 

 

Sue was loved and admired by all she touched.  She is survived by her daughter, Laurel and husband Alan, Clarks Summit, PA; son, Mark and wife Margaret, Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Dr. Jessica Zeidman Ziperstein and husband Dr. Joshua; Steven Glassman and wife Christin; Joseph Zeidman and wife Laura; Adam Glassman; and six great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

 

She was an active volunteer and leader in her community of Harrison, NY.  Sue was a past president of her local chapter of Hadassah, past president of the sisterhood, and a board member and officer of the Jewish Community Center of Harrison.  In addition, Sue spearheaded the sandwich drive in her hometown, which provided thousands of meals to those in need. 

 

The family would like to express its sincerest appreciation to the management and staff of Elan Gardens and the Jewish Home of Eastern PA for their loving care, kindness and compassion.

 

Graveside services will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at the Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ, followed by shiva at the home of Laurel and Alan Glassman on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and Thursday from 2-4 p.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elan Gardens of South Abington Township; the Jewish Home of Eastern PA in Scranton; the Jewish Community Center of Harrison, NY; or to the donor’s favorite charity.
