Grace Alice Gillern, 86, of Dunmore, died Thursday morning
at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton. She is survived by her husband,
Harold F. Gillern. The couple had celebrated  58 years of marriage on April 28th.


Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Edward and
Alice Cleary Gibbons and  was a member of
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Dunmore. She was a graduate of the former
Marywood Seminary High School and also graduated from the former Lackawanna Business
College, Scranton.

 She enjoyed traveling with her husband and was an avid reader. She enjoyed solving the New York Times
Crossword Puzzles and was an animal lover, a sports fan and enjoyed watching
golf on the television. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren
and friends and  will be sadly missed by all who knew her.


The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks for
the kind compassionate care she received while home, from Traditional Home
Health and Hospice, along with the wonderful staff at Gino J. Merli Veterans
Center and the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care and kindness
both our mother and our family received during her final days.

Also surviving are daughters; Marigrace Gillern Loftus and
Margi Gillern, both of Dunmore and a son; Thomas Gillern and wife Kristin,
Philadelphia.  Grandchildren, Joseph W.
Loftus and wife Juliet, Cork, Ireland and Shane and Nora Gillern, Philadelphia.
Nieces, nephews and cousins.


She was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Gibbons.


A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 9:30am in St. Mary’s
Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore.
