Frank J. Capoocia, 82, of Dunmore, passed away Tuesday evening at home surrounded by his family. He and his widow, the former Dolores Zarick, had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last May.Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Dominick and Eva Onufrock Capoocia. Frank was a graduate of Dunmore High School, class of 1950, and the Johnson School of Technology. He was a volunteer member for many years with the former Eclipse Hose Company in Dunmore and the Greek Catholic Union. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Prior to retirement, he worked as a local Union 261 carpenter for various contractors. After retirement, he was a dedicated school crossing guard in Dunmore.Frank was a member of the Elkview Country Club for over 50 years. He played alongside his lifelong friend and golf partner, the late Billy Zinsky. He was a respected and avid scratch golfer. Frank also enjoyed the outdoors while hunting with his son and grandsons. He enjoyed going to the Dunmore Bucks sporting events and loved watching the football games with his family. Frank and Dolores have been together since the age of 15 and spent a long, loving life together raising their family. He was a devoted father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren, who called him "Papa."A special thank you to Home Heath Care Professionals, especially to Bob, Cindy and Stephanie for their wonderful care. Also surviving are a son, Frank and his wife, Elisa, Moosic Lakes; a daughter, Denise Kreis and her husband, Tim, Lake Ariel; six grandchildren, Frank Capoocia and Nicholos Capoocia of Throop; Nicole Piercy and her husband, Mike, Dickson City; Dana Reuther, Dunmore; Lauren Reuther, Virginia; and Jeffrey Reuther, Lake Ariel; four great-grandchildren, Briena, Brayden, Nathan and Jordyn; a sister, Lorraine Zaccagnino, Maryland; and a sister-in-law, Velma Capoocia, New Jersey; nieces, nephews and cousins.He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Robert.The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 East Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Friends may call Friday at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m.

Your dad was a very good man and I am sorry for your loss. I remember him as my biddy basketball coach who was patient and smart about basketball. Once again deepest condolences.
