Frank A. “The Plumber” Constable, 88, a lifelong Dunmore resident and most recently a resident of the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, died Saturday morning in Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Shirley E. Heller, who died March 22, 2007.
Born and raised in Dunmore, son of the late Ralph and Julia Benginia Constable, he was a graduate of the Dunmore High School Class of 1947and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was owner of Frank A. Constable Plumbing and Heating, and was a registered master plumber with the Local 90 and 524 Steamfitters. He also served as past president and member of the AARP Local 3732 for over 24 years. Additionally, Frank was active with the Dunmore Aggies Bowling League, the Senior Citizen Center in both Dunmore and Scranton where he served in past administrative offices, and was President of the Pine Hills Senior Golf League. He was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish and its Holy Name Society.
Surviving is a daughter Cindy Constable of Dunmore; a son, Frank R. Constable of Columbia, South America; a granddaughter, Margaret Alice Constable of Charleston, SC; his brother, Louis Constable and wife Louise of Dunmore; and his sisters Catherine Hardos of Dunmore, and Carol Portell of Jacksonville, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore. Interment with military honors will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5-8 p.m.
