Ethel Schwartz, 92, of Scranton, died Friday afternoon in the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa. She was the wife of the late Allen M. Schwartz, who died in 1994.

 

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Benjamin and Pauline Goldberg Freedline, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who dedicated herself to caring for family. She was a member of Bichor Cholem Congregation and its Sisterhood, Temple Israel of Scranton and its Sisterhood and Hadassah.

 

The family wishes to extend its gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Jewish Home for all of the kindness and care shown to Ethel and her family.

 

Surviving are sons, Burt and wife, Roben, Scranton; Robert and wife, Suzanne, Lafayette Hill; and Richard and wife, Susan, Clarks Summit; and grandchildren, Dana, Rachel, Stacey and Steven and wife, Avie.

 

The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with services by Rabbi Dovid Saks of the Jewish Heritage Connection. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Dalton Jewish Cemetery.

 

Friends will be received during shiva at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa., 1101 Vine St., Scranton, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 1 to 3 p.m.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen M. Schwartz Memorial Fund, c/o the Jewish Federation of Northeastern Pa., 601 Jefferson Ave., Scranton, PA 18510 or to the donor's favorite charity.

Dear Schwartz family,

We have learned that Ethel has passed away, 92 years old.
This is an honorably age and she has been a good women to her husband, her children and her extended family.
