Ruth Linda Fallick, Scranton, died Sunday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, after courageously battling an extended illness. She was the wife of Sheldon "Shiek" Fallick, who died in 1995.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Hyman and Bessie Friedman Kaufman. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and Lackawanna Business College. Before retirement, she was associated in business with her late husband. 

She was a member of Beth Shalom Congregation and was the founder of its goody kitchen. Ruth served on the board of the Jewish Home and had volunteered in other local Jewish organizations. 

She leaves behind an adoring family, including a daughter, JoLynn and husband, David Harding, Tolland, Conn.; a son Gregg, Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Esther Kaufman, Tolland; four grandchildren, Seth Powers, Avon, Conn.; Evan Powers, Orlando, Fla.; Shea Fallick and Kayla Fallick, Albuquerque; two stepgrandchildren, Darryl Harding, Coventry, Conn.; and Michelle Harding, South Windsor, Conn.; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. 

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Sali Spero; and a brother, Irving Kaufman.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Cantor Vladimir Aronzon, officiating. Interment in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery. 

Shiva will be observed at Ruth's residence, 214 Karen Drive, Scranton, Tuesday, 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to Global United Foundation, 27001 Moulton Parkway, Suite A-116, Laguna Hills, CA 92656.

Dear JoLynn and Greg, My sister Lee, just let me know about the passing of your mom. I remember her so well as a child growing up in scranton. i can also recall your mom and my mom in "Anything Goes" at the JCC-- Reno Sweeney and Hope Harcourt--they were so young! i will be making a donation in your mom's name to the Global United F
