Christie Ann DiPietro, 46, of Dunmore, passed away Thursday afternoon at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. She is survived by her husband Rocco. The couple had been married for over 21 years.
Born in Kingston, she is the daughter of Craig and Linda Manahan Williams, Port Charlotte, Fla., and was a 1988 graduate of the former Scranton Central High School. She graduated from Millersville University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology. She was employed by Scranton Lackawanna Human Development Agency as a program manager.
Christie’s family was the joy of her life and she was very passionate about her work. She was a survivor for 17 years, battling and fighting against her cancer and never complaining once. She loved life and was dedicated to help anyone in need. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Christie and her family would like to thank the doctors of Fox Chase Cancer Center, Dr. William Heim, Dr. Salvator Lawrence and the nurses and staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Moses Taylor Hospital for all of their care and compassion during Christie’s fight. Special gratitude is extended to her aunts for their daily and compassionate care for her during her most difficult times, Roseanne and Marion DiPietro and Arlene Kontura and their husbands, Joseph and Carmen DiPietro and Robert Kontura.
Also surviving are a son, Dominic; a daughter, Kessla; and grandson, Nico, all at home; sisters, Tina Williams, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and Paula Novak and husband, Tom, Laceyville; a brother, Chad Williams and wife, Tracy; a grandmother, Christine Manahan, all of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and a grandmother, Vida Williams, New Albany; mother-in-law, Carol DiPietro, Olyphant; brother-in-law, David DiPietro and wife, Ginger, Annapolis, Md.; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charles Manahan, father-in-law, Rocco J. DiPietro Jr.; sister-in-law, Teresa DiPietro; and a cousin, Joseph DiPietro.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore.
Interment is private at the convenience of the family.
