Anthony Joseph Chicco, 88, of Dunmore, died Tuesday morning in Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore. He and his wife, the former Thomasina (Tina) Grande, were married on October 7, 1967 and had celebrated 48 years of marriage.
Born June 10, 1928 and raised in Dunmore, son of the late Alfonso and Rosina Montaro Chicco, he was a graduate of Dunmore High School Class of 1947 and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish. He was an honorably discharged veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Prior to retirement, he had been employed at the Grove Silk Mill and Five Star Equipment Company. He was also a member of the Rome Club, and was an avid fan of the Dunmore Bucks, New York Yankees, New York Giants, and Penn State.
Also surviving are daughters Melissa Ann Chicco of Dunmore, and Rose Wittig and husband Walt of South Canaan; a grandson, Aaron Yatsko of Throop; his sisters, Carmella King of Dunmore and Antoinette Ruscik of Peckville; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Rachel Berezny and Frances Lanieski.
The family would like to thank Dr. Louis Adamo, the nurses and staff of the 4th floor at Regional Hospital, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the kindness and care shown to Anthony in his times of need.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore. Interment to follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.
