Anthony J. Posocco, 89, of Dunmore, died Friday afternoon at home.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, the former Josephine P. Spargo, in 2011.

Born in Scranton, son of the late John and Elvera Gentile Posocco, he attended Dunmore public schools, and later received his G.E.D. from Scranton Technical High School.  A U.S. veteran, he served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.  Prior to retirement, he was employed as a bricklayer, and was a member of B.A.C. local #5 of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers.  He was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore, as well as its Holy Name Society.  A loving husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed gardening, golfing, hunting and fishing, and will be deeply missed.

Surviving is a daughter, Mary Ann Ferguson and husband Andrew Bigda of Forty Fort; sons Anthony Posocco of Maryland, and Arthur Posocco and wife Michele of Scranton; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, John Posocco of Massachusetts; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by and infant daughter, Ann Marie; a sister, Lena Posocco; and son-in-law, Richard Ferguson.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of service.  Entombment will be at the convenience of the family  in the Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum, Scranton.

I have known Tony for 3/4 of my life and even working with him until he retirement , my sympathies to Mary Ann, Arthur, and Anthony and their families

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family. I will always remember our summer trips to visit our family in Pennsylvania! Uncle Tony and his ever present Chihuahua will remain in my memory always. Love and prayers to all.
