Anthony C. Pavlowski, 80, of Dunmore, the beloved husband of Marie Newberry Pavlowski, died Monday morning. He and his wife spent more than 50 loving years together.
Born in Throop on March 13, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Mary Malecki Pavlowski. He was a graduate of Throop High School class of 1952, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Dunmore. He retired early from Procter and Gamble in 1997 and then continued his career as a devoted full-time babysitter for his grandchildren.
A man of few words, he was a caring, devoted, generous and loving husband, father and grandfather. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and caring for and watching over his grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching all sports on television, especially his Boston Red Sox. He followed Dunmore High School sports for over 30 years enjoying the time spent watching his children and grandchildren participate in various sports and activities. He was proud of their sports and academic achievements. He meant the world to his children and grandchildren and the memory of his kindness will live on in their hearts forever.
Also surviving are two sons, Thomas Pavlowski and his wife, Melissa, Dunmore; and Robert Pavlowski, Dunmore; three daughters, Judy Oprisko, Dunmore; Karen DeVivo and her husband, Frank, Dunmore; and Mary Ann Pavlowski, Scranton; 12 grandchildren, Emily, Megan and Thomas Pavlowski, Dunmore; Kyle, Maren and Keegan Oprisko, Dunmore; Geri Pavlowski, New Jersey; Kara and Matthew DeVivo, Dunmore; and Cory, Scott and Taryn Jefferson, Scranton; a brother, Leo Pavlowski (Theresa), Dickson City; a sister, Helen Bronko, Stratford, Conn.; a sister-in-law, Edna Pavlowski, Milford, Conn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Henry Pavlowski; and four sisters, Mary Luba, Jennie Drozdick, Eleanor Mancini and Beatrice Bozym.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Chestnut Street in Dunmore. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow.
