Anne Marie O’Neill Cox, 84, of Dunmore died Tuesday evening, September 15th, in Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Her husband, the late John M. Cox died June 1, 2003. The couple had been married for 50 years.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy McDermott O’Neill and was a graduate of Dunmore High School and the former Lackawanna Business School, Scranton. Prior to retirement she was employed by Mercy Home Health and Hospice.

Anne enjoyed her family and friends. She was always welcoming to unexpected visitors and enjoyed everyone’s company. She adored her grandchildren and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first great-grandchild. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are sons, Daniel and wife Roxann, Dunmore; and John, Virginia; grandchildren, Rachel Schmidt and husband Tyler, Montana; Sam Cox, Dunmore; and Nicole Verone, CO; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth O’Neill, Helen McKnight, Marian VanArtsdalen, Lois Mangan and Joan O’Brien; and brother, Joseph O’Neill.

Services were private at the convenience of the family.

Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.
