Ann M. Roche of Dunmore passed away Sunday afternoon at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Joseph. The couple had been married for 54 years.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth Zadie Pirritano and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. She was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish and the Scranton Prep Parents Club. She was an avid New York Yankees fan. She was also a woman of great faith.

Ann was well known for her cooking and was a very generous and giving person. Her greatest love was her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was a loving and loyal sister and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Also surviving are daughters, Mary Beth Burke and husband, David, Ashburn, Va.; Cathy Walsh and husband, Michael, Dunmore; Sandy Michael and husband, Joseph, St. John, Fla.; and son, Joseph P. and wife, Marisa, Conshohocken, Pa.; grandchildren, Bridget, Katie and Matthew Walsh, Joseph, Patrick and Megan Michael, Grace, Nora and Andrew Roche; a sister, Elizabeth Korty and husband, Jesse, Scott Twp.; a niece, Stacey Burnley and husband, Ralph; and great-nephews, Michael and Peter Burnley. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Santa Pirritano.

Her family wishes to thank the staff at Geisinger Community Medical Center's Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit, especially nurses Adrianna and Collette and Dr. Srikanth Hosur and Dr. A.J. Shetty for all of their care and compassion.

The funeral will be Friday from St. Mary's Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore, with Mass at 11 a.m.

Interment is private at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Scranton Preparatory School, 1000 Wyoming Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.

Joe, I am so sorry to here about Anne's passing. She was a wonderful women with a heart of gold. I will always remember the Tootsie pops at the games and the many nights spent at your home with you and Anne. I am truly sorry I missed the Funeral Mass but my newspapers for Wed. and Thur. were not delivered till yesterday and I just found out Sat. She was the best and my deepest condolences and prayers are with you and your family. May God Bless.

Joe, my deepest , deepest sympathy. I just got the paper today because of the storm and when I saw Ann' s picture I was so shocked. I so, so sorry I just found out. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Joe. Paula and I so sorry to hear of Anna passing. We have many fond memories of our "youth " together---- double dating--- Super Bowl #1. Our sincere condolences.
