Elaine Coyer, 62, Dickson City and formerly of Throop, died Monday at the Moses Taylor Hospital. She and her husband Gene Coyer had celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on August 20th.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Julia Baransky Matyassi. Elaine was a graduate of Throop High School Class of 1966. She had worked in the local garment industry until she retired in order to care for her family and her home. She enjoyed traveling, country music, and classic television episodes, and sci-fi movies. She loved children and animals especially her son and daughter-in-law’s two dogs, Zeke and Tyke. She was a wonderful mother, and caregiver who was always concerned for the health and happiness of those she loved. Elaine was sensitive and kind in nature and in spirit. She processed a sense of humor that ranged from silly to sarcastic.

Elaine’s family would like to thank the staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Moses Taylor Hospital, especially nurses Angela Murphy and Ann Marie Paris for the care she received during the time she spent there.

Also surviving are a son, Leonard Coyer and his wife Kerrie, Pittsburgh; three sisters, Irene Calio, Crofton, MD, Pauline Baigis and her husband Anthony, Scranton, and Mary Marcinkevich and her husband George, Scranton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with mass at 9:30am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street in Dunmore. Friends may call Thursday from 6pm-9pm.
