Rudy R. Delfino, 56, of Scranton, died Thursday, at home after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. He is survived by his wife, the former Sandie Hyatt. The couple celebrated eighteen years of marriage on July 19, 2011.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Beverly Robinson Delfino, Greenridge section of Scranton and the late Francis Delfino. He attended Scranton schools and graduated from Johnson’s Vocational Technical School. He was employed by Jack Locker Construction as a Master Carpenter.
Rudy had a great passion for riding his Harley, and enjoyed building throughout his life from construction to making his own furniture. Rudy was able to fix absolutely anything. He was a member of the Scranton Pool League and a Denver Bronco’s fan. He enjoyed spending time with and taking his beloved cat “Boo Boo” for walks outside. He loved to laugh and make people laugh and enjoyed being with his friends and family. He was an advocate for Prostate Cancer Awareness. He touched the lives of many people and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Salvatore Lawrence, the nurses (Ruth) and staff of the Hospice Community Care, NROC and the many health professionals for their care and compassion during Rudy’s illness.
Also surviving is his birth father, Rudy Frykberg; a daughter Jennifer Ann Delfino, Scranton; a brother Joseph Delfino and wife Melissa, Dunmore; Two sisters; Judith Scott, Harrisburg and Donna Delfino, Dunmore; and his brother and sister in Oregon, Mike and Lani; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
The funeral will be Sunday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis funeral home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a service at 7:00p.m. Celebrated by Pastor Lester Stevenson.
