Antoinette G. Russin, Scranton, died Tuesday in the Regional Hospital of Scranton. She passed surrounded by her loved ones after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her devoted husband, Carl F. Russin Sr. They would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on June 25th.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Frances Prino DeSanto and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. Prior to retirement, she was employed in the local garment industry and was a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union. She had a passion for cooking, especially Sunday gatherings at home with her family, where everyone enjoyed her famous pasta and meatball dinners. She also enjoyed watching the Food Network and cheering on her New York Yankees. A selfless and caring individual, she always put everyone else before herself. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be forever missed.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Klamp, Dr. Cali, and all hospital staff/caregivers for their compassion over the years.
Also surviving are sons, Peter Russin and companion, Debra, New York, N.Y.; and Carl Russin and wife, LeAnn, Scranton; daughters, Marlene DePew and husband, Randy, Scranton; and Linda Boczar and husband, Robert, Scranton; a sister, Frances Sottile and husband, Phillip, Dunmore; a brother, Bart DeSanto and wife, Mary, Conn.; grandchildren, Tyler and Dayton Russin; Kyle Wesley; Eric DePew and wife, Janelle; Randy Jr. and Jared DePew; Robert Boczar Jr. and wife, Amanda; Stephanie and Nicholas Boczar; great-grandchild, Adrian DePew; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Marie Parker and her husband, Richard; infant brothers, John, John and Frank DeSanto; and grandchildren, Catherine, Ian, Haley and Carl Russin.
A memorial service will be held Friday evening at 6 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
