James A. "Murph" Murphy, 86, of Dunmore, died Monday in Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, after an illness.

Born in Dunmore, son of the late James T. and Lillian Conway Murphy, he was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and, before retirement, was employed by the former Collins Supply Co., Scranton.

He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Hunter's Lodge Rod and Gun Club. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are sisters, Catherine Perry, Dunmore; and Mary Martin and husband, Jim, Rockville, Md.; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Anne Baldoni.

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m., in St. Mary's Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Dunmore.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association , 613 Baltimore Drive, Suite 3, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
