Jack John Fox, 84, of East Scranton, died Wednesday morning in Regional Hospital of Scranton shortly after being admitted. His beloved wife of 62 years is the former Claire Mataloni.

Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Christopher and Helen Lynott Fox and was educated in the Dunmore Public Schools where he met his beloved Claire in the first grade and courted through their high school years. After Jack served a 2 year commitment in the Armed Services, they were married.

Born on March 17th, Jack cherished his Irish Heritage and was given Patrick as his middle name. He was employed for 36 years by the Pennsylvania State Employment Agency, working his way up from a clerical position to manager. Jack was a good leader and had the respect of his co-workers as he did for them. After retirement Jack continued to work for the State of Pennsylvania as an expert witness in countless employment cases until 2010.

Jack was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Dunmore Legion Bowling Team, a former president of the East Scranton Little League and an active member of the Immaculate Conception Parish. Jack loved golf and belonged to the Elmhurst Country Club and often talked about the good times and friendships he made there. He and his wife Claire enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Atlantic City and more recently Mohegan Sun. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving is a son Gary and wife Lynn, Waverly; a daughter Susan Demeck, Scranton; grandchildren, Christopher, Jessie, Kathryn, Elizabeth, Thomas, Holly and Ryan. A brother Joseph Fox, Clarks Summit, Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Kevin, a sister, Rachel Golden and a son-in-law, Paul Demeck.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with Mass at 9:30a.m. in St. Peter’s Cathedral, Wyoming Ave., Scranton.

Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. Scranton.

Friends may call Monday from 4-8p.m.

Arrangements were made under the loving care of Jack’s nephew Thomas J. Golden, Funeral Director.
