Nancy Ann Ciangola Rinaldi

Dunmore, PA March 5, 1925 ~ January 29, 2012 Date of Service: February 2, 2012

Nancy Ann Ciangola Rinaldi, 86, Dunmore, died Sunday evening, January 29, surrounded by her loving family.  Her husband is Donato (Danny) Rinaldi, Sr.  They would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this Friday, February 3rd.

Born Anunziata Ciangola on March 5, 1925 in West Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Angelina Cubino Ciangola.  She was educated in Scranton public schools.  In 1951, she and Danny were married in St. Lucy’s Church in Scranton and they moved to Dunmore where they began their long journey together.  Her devoted husband, Danny, sat by her side, holding her hand, throughout her year long illness.  She was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore and its Altar and Rosary Society.  Until her retirement, Nancy worked as a seamstress in the garment industry.  She was very well known as a baker and cook.  Her homemade Italian pasta, desserts and cookies were loved by all.

Nancy’s most important mission in life was to raise her children and to help raise her grandchildren.  She was affectionately known as “Nona” to all of her grandchildren.  She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Besides her husband, Danny, she is survived by five children: Nancy Malone and husband James, Dunmore; Robert and wife Lois, Archbald; Dominic and wife Michele, Dunmore; Joseph, Alexandria, VA; and Donato C. Rinaldi, Jr. and wife Sue, Throop.

Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Mario, Anthony, Robert, Alicia and Vincenzo Rinaldi, Archbald; Demetri and Monica Rinaldi, Dunmore; James and Justin Malone, Dunmore; and Victoria Angelina Rinaldi, Throop; a great-grandson, Gabriel; a sister Molly Cali, Dunmore; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by a sister Louise Juliano; a brother Serafino (Sammy) Ciangola; and seven infant sisters.

The family would like to thank the entire second floor staff of the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania for their exceptional care, thoughtfulness, love and prayers as well as the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart.

The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with mass at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.  Interment at Cathedral Cemetery.  Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donations can be made in Nancy’s name to the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania, 1101 Vine St., Scranton, 18510.

Thank you mom for all you did throughout your entire life for our family especially for taking care of our daughter, Victoria, whom you loved so very very much. You were more than just "Nona" to her. You were her friend, playmate and now guardian angel. Please always watch over her throughout her life. You always worried about her safety, now please walk with her every day. Please keep her healthy, safe and secure, and allow her to live a long, healthy happy life. Love you.
