Josephine Strauskulage

January 17, 2012

Josephine “Josie” Strauskulage, Dunmore, passed away peacefully on Tuesday at Hospice Community Care in Dunmore surrounded by her loving family.  She and her husband Paul Strauskulage were married April 10, 1948 and celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Domenick and Teresina Rotondo DiCindio, she attended Dunmore public schools and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish.  Prior to retirement, she was employed by both the Jewish Home and St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, and in her earlier years had worked for National Pretzel Company in Dunmore.  She traded her fun at bingo and gaming to loving joy of holiday games with her grandsons Matthew and Luke and the rest of the “loud family.”

Also surviving is a son Paul Gerard Strauskulage and wife Susan, Mt. Cobb; daughters Ellen and Theresa Strauskulage, both of Dunmore, Paula Ceccarelli and husband Gary, Archbald, and Mary Ann DiPasquale and husband Ronald, Dickson City; grandchildren Matthew and Luke Strauskulage, Mt. Cobb, and Domenick and Devin DiPasquale, Dickson City; a sister and never-waning constant companion Mary DelRosso, Dunmore; a sister-in-law Jean DiCindio, Olyphant; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by an infant son Paul Jr., granddaughter Amy Strauskulage, a sister Rose Gallucci, and brothers Michael and Anthony DiCindio.

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with mass at 11 a.m. in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.  Interment in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.  Friends may call in the funeral home Thursday from 5-8 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen, 500 Penn Ave., Scranton, 18509.

My prayers go out to your family at this time of loss. May God keep you all in the palm of his hand and know that your mom is smiling down on you all. I will remember the stories Maryann told of your mom they were always so enjoyable and brought a smile or laugh to me.
