Carmella M. Arnone, 86, of Dunmore, died Thursday morning in the Intensive Care Unit at the Community Medical Center, Scranton. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles Arnone, Sr.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Rosario and Concetta Occhippinti Cordaro and was a member of SS Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore.
She was a graduate of Dunmore High School and received a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Villa Walsh Normal School in Morristown, New Jersey. She was a teacher for 30 years at the former St. Anthony of Padua School, Dunmore.
She was a member of the Dunmore Senior Citizens Center for over 30 years and was one of the original organizers. She was a member of the Red Hatters, the Dunmore Lions Club and the Jr. Order of Mechanics, Dunmore. She enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed her excursions to the Casinos. She was a master Baker and enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her true talent and joy in life was teaching. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Also surviving is a son, Charles Jr. and wife Anna Marie, Springfield, Va.; a daughter Charlene Minelli, Dunmore; a sister, Grace Spalletta, Dunmore, four grandchildren; Gwenda Earles, Kristi Evans, Sarah Murrin and Amanda Arnone, five great-grandchildren; Corrine, Caden and Kayleigh Evans, Lee Weidow, Jr. and Gabrielle Weidow.Three brothers-in-law; Louis Arnone, Dunmore, Joseph Arnone and wife Ann, Scranton and Vincent Arnone, Dunmore. Nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by six brothers; John, Sammy, Mike, James, Angelo and Phillip and three sisters; Josephine, Millie and Lucy.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with Mass at 9:30a.m. in St. Anthony’s Church, Smith St., Dunmore.
