Margaret Garvey, Dunmore, died Monday, in the hospice unit of Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the widow of Edward Garvey who died March 14, 1980.
Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Michael and Mary Wasilyak Juba, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School class of 1941 and was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish. She worked in the garment industry for many years and was a former member of the ILGWU. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the medical staff of the Regional Hospital of Scranton for the kindness shown at their time of need.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas Garvey and wife Barbara, and John Garvey, all of Dunmore; two sisters, Veronica Edwards and Suzanne Potash, both of Scranton; three granddaughters, Courtney, Shannon and Katlyn, all of Dunmore; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by brothers John, Michael, George, Charles, Peter and infants Adam and Paul Juba, as well as sisters Mary Fetsko, Anna Prebish, Helen Marcinko and Julia Stone.
A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, December 27 at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore. There are no public calling hours.
