Ethel Mullin, Washington D.C. and formerly of Scranton, died Wednesday at home. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Dr. Harry Mullin, who died in 1982.
Born in Bayonne, NJ, daughter of the late Meyer and Sylvia Bitensky Kochansky, she attended high school in New Jersey and went on to graduate from Hood College in Maryland. She later taught French at West Scranton High School. Ethel was a past president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Lackawanna County Medical Association and began the Dr. Harry Mullin Lecture Series at the University of Scranton with her son, Dr. Bryan. In 1999, she received an honorary Ph. D. from the University of Scranton. She was also a former member of Machzikeh Hadas.
Surviving is a son Dr. Bryan Mullin, Washington D.C.; a daughter Robbin Mullin, Chevy Chase, MD; and a grandson Harry Stormes, Philadelphia. She was also preceded in death by a sister Rosalie Katz and a brother Seymour Kochansky.
Graveside services will be held today at 1 p.m. in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the home of Dr. Bryan Mullin in Dalton, Saturday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday through Wednesday 5-7 p.m.
